Last LONG run day

The victorious feeling of finishing the last long run before race day is purely amazing!!  It feels so good to have come this far, to have pushed this much, to have sacrificed and succeeded and failed, and to have made it to this last long run day.  Sweet victory.

The training is complete, there's nothing more that can be done, just 7 days to go before I see if the training has paid off.  Race day will be a day of unknowns, a day of unpredictability, a day I've planned for but can't control.   The weather might be a factor, how I'll run under pressure or how my body will react to the stress of 26.2 miles might be factors as well.  But, I can hold fast to those tough workouts, the days I pushed so hard I thought I'd leave my insides along the roadside.  I can rely on the days of success, those times I accomplished what I had set out to do, not fully knowing what my body was capable of doing.

I'm going to cherish this last week of tapering.  I might rent a couple "marathon" type movies, watch a few inspiring you-tube videos, pull up a few new songs for my iPod, buy a new pair of running socks, chat more with my sister (who will be meeting me there and running the half).  I've already memorized the race course, been to the interactive map webpage, printed out all my maps/directions/race info, and  made sure all reservations are finalized.  What's done is done, now I'll just relax, enjoy the week and race day activities, the chance to spend 24 hours with my sister (kid-free), and the fact that I'll be "home" in MN!!!

So, today's 10 mile run.  Felt great.  No issues with my new waterproof iPod.  Weather was hot and humid (lost 2 lbs in just 10 miles, not good hydrating today).  Kept an 8:10 pace with a finish time of 1:21.  Loved seeing so many people on the ATT this morning!

LAST WEEK!!!!!

A waterproof iPod?! You mean just the case is waterproof right?

Nope, I mean waterproof ipod!! No case. The iPod itself is coated in some type of waterproofing material, can't tell the difference! You have to buy the waterproof earbuds too, those are about $15. It's good for depths of up to 15 feet. :)

I'll bring it in so you can see what it looks like, but so far, I've had no trouble with it.
