Quickly...

I wanted to quick jot down my happy thoughts about today's run before I fall asleep standing up, I don't want these happy thoughts to drift away with my dreams tonight!  There are rare times when a morning run just goes perfectly, feels great, and leaves you feeling higher than a kite (loaded on endorphins!)  Today was that rare day.

I didn't want to wait for Jamie this morning, she wasn't able to run until 10am and I had a billion and one things on my list to accomplish today.  BUT, running 800's with Jamie is FAR better than running them solo, I wouldn't trade it!  Then my other issue is eating.....  I wake up EVERY morning with a craving for food, a nausea that over takes me and the strongest NEED to eat.  So, I eat the second I jump out of bed, when the house is quiet and I'm the only one awake.  But, if I eat to close to when I run, it ends in disaster so I walk a fine line when I push back a run too far into the morning. This morning's breakfast was devoured by 6:30am and our run scheduled for 10am......in between was three drop off times for three children, I just drive back and forth and back and forth.  Nausea crept in once again by 9:30, so my second breakfast consisted of two chocolate Accel gels and water.

After a 1.5 mile warm up, we successfully made it through 8 x 800's!!!  The first 3-4 800's felt tough but manageable, but the next 4-5 felt perfect.  The rhythm was there, the legs were in a zone, the pace was even, the breathing was perfect, it all fell in sync--finally!  All 800's today were kept between 3:20-3:23, very consistent today.  We managed a 1/2 mile cool down then headed for the stadium stairs where we sprinted the ups and jogged the downs.  It felt great!  My quads felt strong, it's an amazing feeling.  Another 1/2 mile jog back to the cars and our workout complete.  You know it's a great run when you feel spent but yet feel like you could conquer Mt. Everest all at the same time.   Pleased, pleased, pleased.

I'm glad for runs like today that go perfectly according to plan, feel amazing and leave you wanting more.  Yesterday's 10 mile run didn't feel so great, so I'm thankful for today's great run.
