With just 63 days to go before running the most historical race I've ever run, I have completed yet another 40 mile week. My favorite times in training are those peak weeks where your mileage is high, the intensity is developing, the hard effort is paying off and you can begin to see progress. This is also the time when the body is more prone to injuries and you need to be listening very carefully to the tell-tale signs and signals. This week I'm doing just that.
After finishing my 18 mile long run on Tues, I experienced some burning and pain at the top portion of my pelvis. I iced on and off, did the Ibuprophen routine, and took the next day off from running. The pain lessened, so I did a "trial" run on Thurs of 4 miles. The pain was still present but dull, better than on Tues. I finished an 8 mile run on a hilly course on Friday and continued to have this dull, burning pain but thankfully massage therapy was scheduled for that afternoon. I'm taking off Sat and Sun this week in GREAT hopes that the pain continues to lessen. The tennis ball, roller and ice packs have become my friends this week....I'm hoping this is not an injury on the horizon.
