Despite my fabulous intentions of running 22 miles today, my body was only up for a measly 6. The Excedrine calmed the pulsating pain in my head but didn't clear my ears or nose, nor clear this cough that begins at my naval and works it's way up like a volcano ready to roar. This morning's cold, wet, constant rain refused to let up making it difficult to stay warm. My dear friend Linda was willing to bike with me for however many miles I was able to run even though I felt horrible asking her to endure the cold rain! We decided to test out the trail with hopes that the rain would cease.
Slippery clay, mud splattering, big puddles, constant rain, cold air, wet socks, all worsening with each mile. Normally, this type of run would excite me and I'd have to reign myself in from doing too many miles, but not today. I kept thinking how this weather might set me back and I may not recover. So, we cut today's run way short....made it just 6 miles.
After a nice hot bath and more medication, I was at least able to get groceries and stop at the bank, but that was it. Back home to bed. Tomorrow is a new day, hopefully it'll be better.
The plan? Hoping to get in the 22 miles in the morning.
