Finally, it's Saturday and my first real day of running since last weekend! Sweet joy! I pulled out my LONG running pants, ear warmers, gloves, and long sleeve shirt, laced up my shoes, and headed out of the house by 6:50am. Frost everywhere, cool breezes, slippery track, trail laced with fallen leaves that crunch when you step, all of nature welcomed me on this morning's run. I felt free and happy, even with the 32 deg temps that chilled me to the bones. Since my legs still feel like LEAD from all the workouts Meredith has been putting me through (it's a good lead though- ha!) I kept the mileage today to just 4 and ran a mixture of road, trail and track.
Today was supposed to be the Richmond marathon run, but due to commitments with the kids, I wasn't able to run the race. I felt disappointed about it this morning, but I'm sure my body is thanking me for not putting it through another 26.2. It was fun watching my son's soccer games and my daughter's play performance, they both bring me immense joy. Now if I can only get their coaches to stop scheduling games on marathon race days! :)
Looking forward to a new week of running, happy to be back in the saddle after recovery week.
