Friday long run day!

My favorite day of the week, it's FRIDAY!!! I love long run Friday and it's been awhile since we've embraced one another, so today was sweet. I met up with a woman today who finished Ramblin' Rose in 1:38, my half time being 1:43...big difference actually. I was intimidated before I even arrived at her house, but what the heck, I only have my dignity to lose. We took a fabulous route that I hadn't done before, at least not all of it, which proved to be a terrific run!

Since the two of us hadn't really met before, there was plenty to talk about, plenty of time in which to do it, but I had no breath left to use for a chat! I only dared look at my watch ONE time during our 8 mile run....it said 7:41....I wished I hadn't looked at it then. No wonder I felt like puking! It was all becoming very clear, no breath left, feeling like I was more than sucking wind, desperately trying to keep down my breakfast, and trying to appear nonchalant all at the same time. Thankfully my shoe laces had both come untied, we had two traffic lights to stop for, and once I just simply needed to pee but if it hadn't been for those short pitstops, I would not be sitting here typing in my blog!

8 miles in 63 minutes, which included the two stops at lights and a couple of road crossings. Unbelievable...I still can't believe I survived it. Of course my stomach hasn't fully recovered yet, lost my breakfast and passed on lunch for fear of the same convulsive behaviors, but making up for it now for dinner. I don't run that fast on my long run days, in fact, I usually run a whole minute slower per mile. Good to know my body is capable of more than I have expected of it, now it's just a matter of getting acquainted with this new gear.

I thoroughly enjoyed our run today, I just hope she's willing to take me out again and I pray to God I get faster through it all.
