New year....2012

Well, it's a new year, a new set of goals, a new start, a new outfit, new new new.  I like new, starting over from scratch, getting a "do-over."  During the holidays, actually during our 14 day stay on an island in Florida, I was able to contemplate my new goals for 2012.  I'm looking forward to this year and what opportunities it might present.

Running?  Yes, there has been lots of running even though the blogging is lagging behind.  This year I'm starting a journal, on paper not computer.  I'm logging miles in my journal so that at the end of 2012 I can see just how many miles these feet have covered.  I can also keep track of the miles put on my shoes and read about struggles when I'm having difficult running days.

December 27th was day ONE of Boston Marathon training!!  I'm so excited about this adventure!  I've dreamed of getting to Boston for many, many years and now I'm finally training for it.  Today I rented a car, switched to a different hotel near the starting line, and worked out some details with a friend.  I'm so thankful to have my dad, my biggest supported and hero, sharing in this experience with me.  There are just 13 weeks remaining!

I've worked my training plan to include a few really long runs, a repeat of Grandma's marathon training, so adding the Tobacco Road Marathon to my schedule will be perfect!  I will have run 24 miles the week prior to TRM so that I will be able to run all 26.2 the day of the race which gives me a chance to work on eating, running, outfit, and pace planning.  I'll also add a half mary, 10K, and two 5K races in between.  Actually, the half mary will be my own little "race" on the ATT with some friends, since I can't find a race to fit my schedule. :)  Maybe I'll make us some medals or t-shirts.

I'm currently reading, Born To Run, and I'm falling in love with it!!!  Now this is my kind of running book, my kind of style for sure.  I often feel like others just don't understand my love for running, the nature of my running, or my style of running so much.  If I were a Tarahumara tribal woman, I'd be running 24/7.  Unfortunately, my life isn't so simple, so I'll just have to imagine life as one. :)

So, here's to 2012!!!!!!!
