Ramblin' Rose Half

I can't remember the last half marathon that I ran and definitely can't remember the last time I trained JUST for a half, but this past weekend I managed to run the 13.1 and felt pretty decent.  I was concerned about the hills, not because I don't like running hills, but because of the strain they put on my ITband.  Since coming off of the marathon just two weeks ago, I should still be in "recovery" mode, not so much racing mode.  But, the race was calling my name and the weather was looking perfect, so it was a GO!

I wasn't truly running for a good finish time but I would have been disappointed with a slow time, so I was somewhere in the middle.  I decided to just run at the pace my legs felt like turning at, so that's what  I did.  First few miles were too fast, 7:30-7:45 pace but I also knew I was running 13.1 not 26.2.  Finished the first half in 42:46, the second half (the hillier half) at 56:40, putting me at a finish time of 1:45:27.  I need to look back, but I think this may even be a new PR by a few seconds.  Felt pretty good about the race, it's only been 14 days since the marathon, so I will be happy with this finish time!

My daughter and parents met me in 4 different places, and FUNNY thing....my daughter said she felt inspired!!!!!!!!!  That's never happened before, maybe it was all the PINK at this race that got her excited.
