Feeling the need to push harder

Today's run felt amazing!  The weather is most certainly cooperating these mornings, I love these new cooler temps!  This morning was a 2.5 mile warm up on east campus, followed by 2 x 1 mile repeats, ending with a 1 mile cool down.  The warm up felt good, my legs felt relaxed and held an 8:30 pace.  Both the one mile "sprints"  (ha, I'm not fast yet, that will come as the weeks go by) were done at 7:15 and 7:16. It's a bit tricky to run "fast" on east campus as there are large roots, crevasses to jump over, walkers that think they own the entire width of the path, dogs on leashes strung out at least 8 feet, curbs, traffic, and hills.  But, it sure beats running in circles on the track.

It's been quite a while since running a 5K race so I'm well overdo.  I found one this weekend that fits into my schedule and I'm hoping it will light a fire under my butt.  After that, City of Oaks is following weekend.  I'd really love to switch from the half to the full, but I'm on the fence as to whether or not my legs need some more recovery time, so we'll see.

Biggest news of the day today....my daughter DROVE me home after school today, first day of driving with her learner's permit.   I thought those early childhood milestones were scary, that was NOTHING compared to these high school milestones!  AGH!  I had to sit there and not say anything, just hold on and pray we didn't hit anything....we made it.
