My PT dr. told me the fluid and swelling on my knee seems to be increasing which he thinks is related to riding the LifeFitness bike all these months (you can't really adjust the bike properly). With this being said, it was time to face my fears. For weeks I've been scoping out the group of bikers at the 6am spin classes. I'll get as close as the window before I quickly turn around and head back downstairs to the LifeFitness bikes. Face it, I'm intimidated by those in spandex! I just haven't geared up enough courage to try out a class. It's rather childish, I mean come on, it's a just a spin bike in the midst of 30 others just like it! So, Thursday morning I gathered up all my courage and marched myself to the dreaded spin room where I noticed my old personal trainer chatting with someone. Perfect! I kindly asked him to help me figure out how to adjust the seat properly, put on the handlebars, and how to work the silly thing. Soon the room was filled and class was about to begin. I still wanted to disperse and try again another day but it was too late, I was pretty much cornered in. UNBELIEVABLE! The class was great, much better than sitting on the main floor watching women flirt with men and "pretend" to lift weights. The hour seemed to fly by, what was I so scared of again?? I'm definitely doing that again!
After dropping off our foster baby with a babysitter, I decided I would do my long run today instead of Saturday (mostly because there's supposed to be snow). The target today was 14 miles. Despite the brisk wind, 41 degrees, and rain in my face, the run went great. I consumed a bagel (at breakfast with Trimama) just a couple of hours prior to the run then took one GU along. Last weekend I wasn't successful with drinking anything but today I managed to keep down 10 oz of water! I also swallowed a GU at mile 9! This is a great accomplishment for me! I was in cruise control from miles 2-9, then took the GU which took 2 miles to kick in, then went back to cruise for miles 11-14. As for time, finished in 2:00:56! That's an 8:38 pace!! Just have to keep shaving a few more seconds off while increasing my miles in order to qualify for Boston. Getting to Boston is just one goal, it may take me a lifetime to get there so I will continue to work hard till it happens.
Just an FYI, IT'S SNOWING OUT!!!! Yep, it's 12:55am on April 26 and I am watching snowflakes fall-what a shame!
