Since Sunday's run was a success, I thought I'd give my knee another go on Tuesday. Since that run went well, I'm planning on another good run on Thursday. Monday and Wednesday were swim days, and much better than usual days. I usually only swim (and bike) if I'm injured, hmmmm. Maybe I should do something with these activities, like to do a Tri? I've never done one, never thought I'd do one, but always curious about trying one. I think a bit of research and blog reading might be helpful. My first new-found information was that a "length" in the pool is about 25 yards, and one mile is about 1700 yds! I had no idea. I've always swam for time, usually about an hour, but now I can actually count laps and know how far I'm going. I realize that Iam VERY far from becoming a tri-athlete, but the excitement I feel ensures me that I'll get there. :)
I signed up for the Lifetime Fitness Indoor Triathlon in April and if all goes well, the Liftime Fitness (olympic) triathlon in July! I thought this would be a good starting point just to see what it's like to train for 3 sports, figure out the transitioning thing, and not have the outdoor elements play a factor. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing, I don't own a bike, and I've only worn a wetsuit once in my life. BUT, I do know that I have a desire to challenge myself and an inner drive that makes me competitive. I found a training plan for beginners so I started that today. I did 1600 yds in the pool, flipturns and all! I didn't even drown, I was very pleased with myself. Instead of running, I decided to attend tennis practice (which was a much better workout than a 2 mile run). Tomorrow is a swim and run day but the weather forecast is predicting 3-5" of snow by morning along with freezing temps and wind. Not a good run day! I'm not very good at dodging snowplows and jumping over snow banks.

Yay Lora!!! You're all signed up! You are going to do great. Welcome to triathlon! I can't wait to hear all about the journey.
I'm so proud of you for attempting the triathalon! You'll have to let me know how the training goes. I may join you in the future. Something different to add to my resume. I just have to get out and start doing something one of these days. Guess I should heal from this surgery first, then I'll figure out my next race!
I love ya. Hang in there! KK
Just found your blog through Lana's - it's great! Good luck finding the patience to let that IT band fully heal - that is so frustrating...
