I'm hungry AGAIN???

I was diagnosed with Iron Deficiency Anemia nearly 2 yrs. ago when my hemoglobin test came back an 8 (12-14 is normal). I have had multiple exams, tests, procedures, pokes/prods, to try to come up with a reason why, but the Dr.'s remain baffled. Occasionally, I have to sit in the cancer outpatient room for 6 hours while I have an iron infusion to boost me up.
I have learned to identify the signs and symptoms that plague me when my hgb begins to drop and I often find that I begin to have odd cravings for red meat, spinach, and kidney beans! So, I have figured that when your body craves a certain food, it must be because it needs certain vitamins/minerals from it.
Tonight, however, I was making a recipe that called for 1 tbsp of brown sugar. Hmmm... One tbsp. for the batter, one tbsp. for my mouth. Another tbsp. for my mouth, then another, and another, ......! Oh man, I ended up eating nearly a 1/2 cup of brown sugar! What in the world could my body get from that? I know, NOTHING. It tasted so sweet!
Since I started this new tri-training schedule, I have been eating like one big pig! I can't seem to help myself, and I can't seem to get full! The strange thing is that I weighed in today 2 lbs. less than last week. What? I never lost or gained weight during my marathon training, so maybe it's the tri thing. Bizarre.
I guess that's one benefit of a tri, eating lots!! :)
