I must say, I love training for a Tri but I'm scared to death of actually racing in a Tri. I went to Gear West today to inquire about bikes, I left feeling quite uneducated, inadequate and terrified! There's gears, pedals, saddles, tires, shoes and much more to worry about! Doing a marathon seems like nothing in comparison, you just put on your shoes and go. The Tri suits were also quite interesting since I've never even tried one on before. I have so much to learn! Perhaps I should just train for Tri's but not actually compete in them, that would definitely be easier. Guessing I'm too competitive though. Well, narrowed it down to 2 or 3 road bikes but I need to take Trimama with me before I commit to anything. As for the Tri suit? That will have to wait, I can hardly stand the thought of wearing the thing!
Yesterday was the longest swim I've completed thus far, 2000 yds! I felt great, no gulping of water or near drowning instances! Hopping on the cycle next for a 25 mile spin went even better. With the third week completed, I can honestly say that this is much better than just running everyday. Never thought I'd say that! However, swimming in a pool is loads different than a swim in the murky waters of a lake with thousands of swimmers taking you down; and biking on the road in all the elements is a whole different ball game!
5 weeks to go before the LifeTime Fitness indoor Tri! It isn't like an outdoor race but at least I'll get a feel for what it's like to do a swim, bike, run in one afternoon. Long run tomorrow! 15 weeks to Grandma's Marathon.
