Saturday was a great run day. The IT band didn't bother me more than just a few twinges so that was a success in and of itself (still have to wear the brace, but that's ok). Finished the 7 miles with an 8:15 ave pace, the first mile was a 9:35 however. :) Guess I had to warm up a bit since it was only 18 deg. when I started my run. I was supposed to run the Irish for A Day 10 miler but since I've had to follow this beginner training plan due to the ITband issues, the long run consisted of only 7 miles. As I looped around the lake I noticed the police officers blocking off the roads and setting up the cones, that's when I felt a bit disappointed. I knew I could easily run 10 but if I push the ITB then I'm stuck taking time off, definitely want to train smarter this year!!
Sunday was a lovely day off, a day with no workouts!! The day off really helps my mind recover as well, and by Monday morning I'm hopping out of bed and racing over to the club. I love the feeling of "wanting more," "wanting" to run instead of "having" to run. I was able to get in 20 miles on the spin bike and 1700 yds in the pool before getting the kids up and ready for school. That's always a big accomplishment, getting it all in before the crack of dawn, but today I succeeded.
Just 27 days to go till race day. I know it's not the "real" thing but I'm excited to just do it. I've never done a tri before (of any sort) so this will be fun. I've been working a little bit on speed in all three areas since this tri is timed differently. It's just 10 min. in the water, 30 min. spinning, and 20 min. on the treadmill. To all you IM's & Tri athletes, this may seem like a joke. :) I realize this but for me it's just the beginning of the turning of a new leaf. Going from a runner to a triathlete, big transition. I joined the MN tri club recently so that I can gain more information, insights, help, and classes to help me figure this whole thing out. I would love to one day complete an Ironman, now that would be something!
For now, I'll continue the daily training. This is the easy part, training indoors, the hardest part is yet to come!!

Yay! Four more weeks! You are going to do awesome, Lora. What kind of bike did you get? I can't wait to see a picture! I have somewhat of a bike fetish...even when I don't need to buy one for myself I find reasons to buy them for the kids. The bike shop loves to see me coming...haha! Once it warms up and you get outside on that bike and get comfortable you will love it! I was a runner turned triathlete, too...but now my true love is the bike. Love it, love it, love it.
