The month of March has quickly come and gone, it's crazy how fast some days and weeks seem to go by. With all the warm days we've had, a 3+ week illness, all the long runs and a marathon in this month, I can't say I'm sad that the month has gone by fast. I've been looking forward to April for a long time, wishing that it would come quickly, and now.....it's almost here! Just 16 days till BOSTON!
Since the Tobacco Road marathon on the 18th, I've been cautious about my running in order to prevent injury. Last week only totally 8.5 miles on land and 1.5 hrs of pool running. This week isn't that much more exciting, just logging in under 34 miles. I will get in one more longish run on Monday, somewhere between 15-20 miles, then two weeks of tapering before Boston. The homestretch!!!!
March miles totaling 145 miles, down from February's 164 miles, but still right on track for where I need to be. One goal I have is to be putting in 60-80 mile weeks in the height of training, maybe closer to the fall when the weather has cooled down some. My training plan calls for all these tempo runs, speed workouts, fartleks, etc., but I haven't been able to physically keep up with the plan, so I'm still not where I would like to be in terms of pace/speed. That might be something I also work on in the summer/fall, another goal.
