Making it up as I go and loving it.

Monday's workout:

Monday was a mix of events all squeezed into a workout that needed to be finished in order to get over to AE on time for a nice lifting session.  The WaDuke trail provided the place to do hills, repeats, and to just run long enough to feel like something was accomplished.  Ran the first mile of the trail slow, at an 8:35 pace, was frustrated with my legs for not turning over faster and for feeling so heavy.  So, stopped my Garmin, found a nice even part of the trail, and sprinted .10 of a mile.  Repeated this 6 times and ended that with a 400 yd sprint. Continued on the trail feeling much lighter, felt like the lead had been shaken out and  kept closer to an 8:10 pace.  After running 4 miles of the trail, ended the workout with a set of hill sprints.  Found two perfectly steep hills in a row, up and down, up and down.  Sprinted those hills twice just in time to sprint to my car and head over to AE for an hour of weights!

Tuesday...

Got in a 7 mile run between east campus, gardens and the chapel.  8:10 pace most of the way, a couple 8:25's, and finished the last mile with a 7:40.  Considering my mind wanted me to quit at mile 5 and my iPod battery died at mile 4, I was happy that I was able to knock out a few more miles.  Love that.

Wednesday...

Not sure yet.  Probably need a day off, but might do sprints early morning or ride bike during the baby's nap time.  Maybe a little P90X??  Forecast calls for rain and that makes for a FABULOUS run day!  We'll see.

I'm enjoying this month of making up the schedule as I go, it's freeing.  The running calendar is completely blank until Dec. 27, so for now I just write down what I did AFTER I did it.  It feels good.  For a type A person, this is ground breaking, completely opposite of the norm and though reluctant at first, I'm allowing myself to enjoy it.
