Long run Saturday

Well, up to 12 miles now for a long run and it feels marvelous!   Really trying to "adhere" to a more relaxed schedule, so keeping the long runs to slight increases and weekly mileage between 25-33 mi.

Through the Bull City Running Club, I found a few ladies who run a similar pace and was finally able to connect with them on Saturday for a terrific long run.  Ran 2 miles before meeting up with the group since they were doing an out and back of 10 miles, and so I could loosen up my ever-so-tight hamstrings!!   We headed out for the 10 miles and kept an 8:05 ave pace for the run.  The time flew by so quickly and my body felt amazingly strong, didn't even feel like I had just finished 12 miles!

Everyone goes their own pace, works on their own goals, and has their own reasons for running, I get that....BUT....it's often hard to hear how fast others are when you have been struggling to improve your time and you're still slower!  There are many runners in the running club that post how fast their times are and I find it very intimidating, yet inspiring.  "If only..."  I always say.   Well, I may not get as fast as some of them, but at least this long run FELT fast and it's an improvement for me and it's right on target to where I want to be in April.  Now that's exciting!!!

After a full afternoon of baking cookies (none that I could eat, all full of gluten), I'm once again ready for a relaxing Sunday run.  Not for time, but for the pure joy of running. :)
