It just dawned on me that my last post was back in October, prior to the Richmond Marathon. One thing's for sure, there have been many more miles run since that post! Funny reading how I wanted to set a PR of 3:59 or better....I blew that time out of the water!! Richmond was a fabulous race and I'm happy to report that I set a new PR of 3:50:52!!!!!!!!! It's been 5 long years of running since I've hit a sub-4, boy it feels great to get that again. After Richmond, I spent one month resting/re-training for the Thunder Road Marathon. Yep, just 4 weeks later I was at it again. Both these marathons are hilly, but Thunder Road was worse. I'm also ecstatic to report that despite the hills, despite the fact that it was only 4 weeks later, I managed to sub-4 again with a 3:53:02!!! Talking like feeling like I'm on a roll! Normally I don't run marathons back-to-back like this, but I had signed up for Thunder Road as part of some fund raising I had done for the Susan G. Komen foundation.
Now that I've done these two 3:50's, I'm desperate for a BQ time of 3:45:59. I know it's within reach, I just have to figure out how to reach it. So on 3/20/11, I will reach hard for it. The training has begun and the sprinting is off to a good start....just 9 weeks to go.
